It has been cold the past week. Today's high came at 2:30 in the afternoon at a wonderful minus forty-three. The cold is expected to remain until next Wednesday when it warms up to the mid-thirties.
Ice fog is a factor too. The exhaust from chimneys and vehicles combined with ice crystals makes for a foggy kind of place. The fog settles over the town even though the sun might be shining on the surrounding hills. Of course the sun is only visible, if at all, for just over four hours each day.
Somehow I thought I would manage the cold differently. Though yesterday, and again today, I realized without doubt, that minus forty is cold, even for a prairie guy, and that it will get even colder. And darker too.
